Root canal treatment

tratament canal

The symptoms that indicate the need for a root canal are tooth sensitivity when eating food too cold or hot, repeated pain when chewin on the tooth, tooth discoloration or constant pain.

Devitalisation of a tooth (removal of the nerve) is considered to be the single "blind" operation in the dental therapy, therefore it requires special attention and skills from the dentist. Endodontics maneuvers are cleaning the root canals, mechanical preparation of the root, sterilization and obturation.

Root canal treatment prevents infection from spreading to neighboring teeth and prevents destruction of the tooth where the infection occurred. Depending on the number of teeth that are to be treated, root canal treatment can be performed in one or more sessions. After removing the nerve the root channels are blocked (sealed) and the tooth will be saved. In time the tooth may change its color but this can be corrected by whitening, veneers or crown.

Saving the tooth preserves the space, prevents the movement of other teeth and eliminates the need for a bridge or an implant and a crown. Although apparently an expensive treatment, in reality it is a more effective solution in terms of cost.
